I’ve worked out for 25 years straight consistently four or five times a week. And while I’ve maintained good strength, what happens over that period of time is you lose purpose motivation and the rationale to continue to push yourself and you’ll find yourself in sort of a maintenance mode As a busy executive running numerous companies, my time to work out is often limited and it’s easy to be distracted during my workouts by phone email text messages and other continuous interactions running work and then of course balancing limited time with family. Since I’ve started working out with Barton, he’s helped me add one or two really excellent workouts each week that push me and remind me of the difference between just maintaining and truly pushing ourselves to become the best we can be in the gym and in life.

I met Alison Figoski at a very hectic outdoor Crunch Gym sign-up forum. I liked her energy and sense of humor, so I divulged my motive - -
I was solely interested in luxury options, such as tanning and massage chairs, basically anything but training.
I was very self- conscious about my clumsiness, exasperated by a 35-pound spare tire and inability to coordinate, being unable to discern left from right.
About 8 years ago, I also suffered from excruciating pain caused by my sciatic nerve being pinched by collapsed discs. After recovery, I was terrified of moving beyond the routine.
Ali made me feel so welcome and safe. She took an assessment of posture and stance, etc., before preparing a workout routine that I thought I might be able to manage, at least once. My body image hang-ups were a result of years of bullying at home and in school. As an adult, I was okay with my challenges. I accepted that I wasn’t cut out to be a swimsuit model, so I stayed as healthy as I could, uninterested in anything gym related other than my long-term membership at Lifetime for the pools, saunas, hot tubs and nail/hair salons.
However, once Ali and I began to work on my exercise routine, I realized that it wasn’t as tortuous as I was expecting.
She was so fun to chat with, that I lost track of time, and despite my best efforts, I actually started to enjoy my Crunch sessions. After each, my body had mild aches, like a warming sensation, which served as a reminder that I was actually making progress. In just one month, I had gained 4 pounds of muscle.
Ali is a truly caring person who isn’t pushy or demanding. In fact, it feels as if we’re just two girls who want to have fun for an hour, but not at a bar or sunbathing, just lifting, pulling, lunging, planking and squatting against a wall with a huge ball to lean on!
I cannot thank Ali enough for her expertise and caring friendship!
